I'm Still with the Band

For the past 6 months, a major source of sanity, craziness and major happiness has been La Boquita, the world music group I formed with Silvia, Paolo and Mauricio. I met Paolo & Mauricio through Daniel, the man who briefly invoked Fever but ultimately proved to be just a little too sick in the head himself. Despite our disastrous ending, I'm forever thankful to him, though, for getting me back on the stage, getting me back in the saddle of love, and getting me to be more open to all sorts of possibilities, musical and otherwise. When Daniel and I fell apart, Maurico & Paolo were literally right there, sitting just a few feet away in the audience, ready to scoop up the pieces. A week later, Silvia (who is Paolo's girlfriend) moved from Queretaro to Zihuatanejo. One day after that, the four of us performed together for the first time.

Fiebre

The first song that Daniel and I sang together was "Fever". We sang it before we even had one conversation. I felt the song was extremely cheesy - beneath me even - but it was a song we both knew the words to (albeit in 2 languages) so we tried it. We sounded pretty darn good.

Very Punny

I have my friends who are listen, who console, who worry... And then there's Roberto. The first things out of his mouth when I called him last night were "Well, you shake it to the left, you shake it to the right, you do the HIPpy shake shake with all of your might!"

Inga

My flexible work schedule has granted me a lot of wonderful opportunities for travel, and beach time, and afternoon naps. In the past few weeks, I've also been able to spend my afternoons with Inga at a local VA...

Living in the House of Ill-Repute

I'm totally used to my crap immune system guaranteeing that any virus or infection that passes through town, takes up residence in me. I'd just like one of these buggers to be an illness that allows me to veg out on the couch and watch movies rather than lie in a dark room, vampire-style.

Packing Light

On our first day of the South Beach Diet, I had a slice of deli turkey breast, string cheese, and a bowl of leftover spinach for dinner. Bev ate baked salmon, steamed asparagus, and a salad. Is it any wonder why I moved the next afternoon into her house?
