There really is no more appropriate title for Isahrai Azaria's debut solo album than Making It Up As I Go Along. Her path, musically, spiritually and geographically has meandered, stopped, started, switched back and come full circle time and again. Isahrai is a girl who loves making plans and making lists -- she even has a list of lists she hopes to make -- but it seems that the universe's big life lesson for her is to embrace spontaneity and to let go of everything but those beliefs she holds most dear.
With this album, Isahrai has embraced her desire to pump as much goodness out into the world as possible. Each of the 9 tracks contains hopeful messages, sweet layered harmonies and just a wee bit of nonsense. Whether she's singing about her complicated faith, illness, human rights or bumblebees, Isahrai's journey is improvisation at its sweetest and will give you a reason to smile along, sing along & start making it up along with her.

Making It Up As I Go Along would still be a collection of messily written songs in my journal if Charlie hadn't so graciously opened up his home, studio and vast musical experience to me. The collaboration pushed us both in unexpected ways and opened our eyes to new possibilities in ourselves and in our music. I learned that even the purest of folk songs sometimes needs a bit of rock & roll. Charlie learned about the wonders of digital studios and Apple computers. (Aha! Another convert!) And, in the end, our most obvious lesson learned was that collaboration is easy when love and a shared vision of peace and joy is present.
My improvised life would be void of purpose or joy without fellow musicians and peacemakers to share the journey with. This album is certainly my story but it also tells the tale of those who have helped me get by and pushed me to higher ground.
